Welcome to AOPA Isle of Man Region Being a member of AOPA means you are part of an organisation with over 450,000 members worldwide in over 63 different countries. AOPA Isle of Man Region was formed to represent pilots and owners of aircraft who operate from the Isle of Man. The Isle of Man now has its own Aircraft Registry (the Manx Registry) and pilot licence validation. Details of the Manx Registry and licensing rules and legislation can be found on the following link to the Isle of Man Government (http://www.gov.im/). Whilst most of these rules and legislation are similar, if not identical, to those applicable to the UK there are some variances. At present AOPA Isle of Man Region operates under the umbrella of UK AOPA and to join as either an aircraft owner or pilot you need to access the AOPA UK website (www.aopa.co.uk) and join in the normal way and your details will then be referred to us, when we are able to offer any additional advice or services applicable to the Isle of Man. We are a friendly, accessible organisation that provides vital representation at Isle of Man level as well as through the extended organisation, being able to address matters that are applicable to the UK, Europe or International. Hopefully you will join us, if not already a member. Message from the Chairman Hello I'm Geoffrey Boot, Chairman of AOPA Isle of Man Region. I am also Vice Chairman of UK AOPA. With the advent of the Manx Registry and pilots' licensing I, along with some other forward-thinking pilots and owners, formed AOPA Isle of Man Region specifically to ensure representation at Government level with regular contact with the Department of Transport, Director of Aviation and Airport Director. Whilst we are primarily for Manx-based pilots and operators, we are also able to offer advice and facilitate people visiting our wonderful island. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us. |
